Maine Veterans Project Retreat
The Maine Veterans Project will host an all expenses paid* retreat for combat and otherwise at-risk veterans. The retreat is at a semi-private, spacious location in the serene Maine wilderness accessible by both vehicle and ATV. The MVP Retreat provides a veteran-friendly therapeutic environment without the formalities associated with one on one therapy. The MVP retreat is designed to be a safe place for up to 10 veterans to experience camaraderie, team building exercises, physical fitness, wilderness adventures and if available, equine therapy. Licensed therapists will be on site during group discussions. Follow-up treatment options and resources, as well as assistance making appointments, will be available.
The State of Maine has granted a fishing license waiver for each veteran attending the retreat if accompanied by an MVP official. This waiver is extended to direct family members and all Gold Star family members.
The location is the Cottonwood Camping & RV Park in Columbia Falls, Maine. Veterans wishing to spend time there outside of the retreat may contact Maine Veterans Project for prior approval and take advantage of the park free of charge.
*Each individual is responsible for getting to and from the retreat on their own.
